Anyone know if there’s an option (either included in the latest SLES OS or available as an add-on) for some form of AD emulation?
The main purpose is to integrate a NetGear ReadyNAS for use with managing accounts (rather than rely upon “local” authentication/account management). The NetGear ReadyNAS does not have the ability to be an LDAP server (unlike the QNAP which apparently I should’ve bought instead, but the backup support is atrocious with the QNAP, IMO).
Specifically would be using this information on how to point the NetGear to the emulated domain:
http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/23152/~/how-do-i-configure-active-directory-mode-on-my-readynas-os-6-storage-system%3F
(too bad it doesn’t have just a plain LDAP redirect).
Would prefer “plain” SLES vs. OES and the DSFW (ugh).
Thanks!

SLES12 SP1 has Samba 4.2 which can act as a Domain Controller
compatible with Active Directory - please see h
