NoReply error loop

I should preface this explanation by explaining that I am new to Linux & administering Groupwise.
Our Groupwise Web Access module stopped responding this weekend, so I restarted the Linux server where our Groupwise is installed. After it restarted I switched to the GUI using startx. I learned that I needed to restart Tomcat and was given the commands to do so by the previous tech person here. Before I could enter the commands I needed to go back to the Command interface, so I used Ctrl-Alt-F1 to do that.
This did not work. The system sat a while, but then began generating error messages.
The messages are repeating over and over down the screen:
error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply No reply within specified time
There is no “:” prompt.

Groupwise is now having issues. At first external mail wasn’t being sent or received. Now trying to send email causes a Groupwise Error 8204 that the disk is full.

How can I get the server out of the error loop that it seems to be in?

Hi
Try a different VT like ctrl+alt+F2 (ctrl+alt+F7 to get back to your
GUI). You can also check the kernel messages via ctrl+alt+F10 to see
what’s up.

Do you have a USB device plugged into the server, that could be a
source of the messages.

You can also open a terminal session in the desktop to run your
command, press alt+F2 then type in gnome-terminal then press the run
button.

Ctrl-alt-F2 worked! It took me back to the command interface. Thanks so much for your help.
