Hello, all:
IBM zServer OSA support both layer-2 mode and layer-3 mode. The performance when running in layer-3 mode is much higher than layer-2 when offloading feature (segmentation, checksum) is enabled. But from the HA point of view, traditionally the layer-2 is preferred as managing the MAC is more easy than in layer 3 mode, where the layer-2 work is done by the OSA microcode.
I’m not very sure that the wicked-nanny NIC HA functions(including teaming or bonding) supports OSA layer-3 mode or not. If so, which release? Thanks a lot.
Victor Hsiao.
