Hi,
Is it possible to change the expiry date for root password by using “chage” command? As I know “chage” can be used to change expiration for a normal user. If it cannot, is there any way to set expiration for root password?
Thanks,
Brs

Hi
Not sure why you would want to do that (incase something when wrong and it expired?), but chage should work;
Don’t have a SLE 11 SP4 system, but tested on SLES 12 SP2;
chage -l root

Account expires : never
Minimum number of days between password change : -1

chage -M 99999 -m 0 -W 7 root
chage -l root
