Can't type after upgrading to SLES 11 SP1

My server will not respond to keystrokes at the login screen GUI after upgrading from 11 to 11 SP1. It does work if I boot to fail safe mode though. The mouse works fine on the login GUI screen.

The keyboard works fine during the boot up sequence and at the screen where I can choose which to boot to fail safe or regular mode. Once the login screen appears, the keyboard stops functioning.

What can be done to make the typing start working again in the regular mode? Am I missing out on anything when booting to fail safe mode because the services that this server hosts seem to be running fine in fail safe.

Hi
What if you boot to runlevel 3, just enter a 3 in the grub options and
boot.

Or does ALT+CTRL+F1 work at the GUI login, are you running GNOME or KDE
or other as your desktop environment.

Are you running an ATI or Nvidia card?

It is running GNOME. CTRL+ALT+1 does not work. The card shows up in YAST as ATI ES1000 515E. I have no tried booting to run level 3 yet, but I will give that a try and see what happens.
