Groupwise

Well, I’m upgrading my gw2012sp3 system to gw2014sp1 this weekend.

Wish me luck!

For us the upgrade was very smooth.

thsundel sounds like they ‘said’:

So my response to thsundel’s comment is…

Mine went smooth except for the GWIA gwha.conf getting messed up. I
had to have NTS sort that out for me.

Ah, yes. Did it create an extra entry for GWIA, without a blank line in
between? Has happened to me as well, but it was a simple edit to fix.

I shook my head when I watched NTS make that blank line in that file,
thought to myself “Could it really be that simple?”

Yes. It has been reported to Novell with 2012 as well. I added your
info to the thread in the back room.

Just for the lurkers:

What happens is that the installer inserts an extra duplicate entry for
gwia in the gwha.conf. This makes the script that loads go goom and
gwia is reported as “loaded”, but then shown as “dead”

I miss working on GreoupWise / Novell products

Just to share that this GW upgrade was the smoothest one for many years.
First, the installer program now actually works! Can’t say the same for
the installer in GW8 and GW12 - python was always spitting out errors,
so you had to run it again and again and again until it was successfull.
Last week I’ve upgraded a fairly complex GW system (OES Cluster, 3
domains, 3 post offices, webaccess and gwia - all on a 2-node OES
cluster, and all of them as separate cluster resources, so you can
distribute them among the physical nodes as you like) from 2012 to
2014sp1hp1, not a single error was produced!

The GW team will be happy to hear this. Thanks.
