Good point Fluffy, I haven’t let this crew in on where my duckies and I
are hanging our collective hats. We moved to Graham Washington in
April, and sold our Renton house June 5. The house was on the market
for 4.5 days, we had over 50 viewings, had five offers to choose from
and we got 40K more than we were asking for it. Yes, the housing market
is HOT here in the Seattle area. Our friends listed their house on the
12th and accepted an offer the next day.
Anyhow, my duckies are still snuggled in their packing boxes as I
haven’t got my office sorted yet. Soon …

Also here in the Salt Lake area. The average I saw a few weeks ago was
17 days; we’ve got friends that we’ve known since Ken was 9 (Ken and
their son went to school together) who just got a job in the UK (applied
on a whim; teaching at a USAF school there) and their house was on the
market 3 days.
We’re hoping to have our place ready by the fall so we can make our move
to the PNW (Portland and Seattle are both possibilities right now).

Would be dandy to have you in the neighbourhood.

It would be fun to be there, too. We’re nearly to the point where the
house is ready for us to think about putting it on the market - we need
to finish the kitchen and a few other small things.
Who are the good employers in the area? Amy’s got friends at Microsoft
(not likely I’d work there, though), Isilion (division of EMC), and I
know a few folks at Amazon as well as my own Microsoft contacts. IIRC,
one of my former contacts at Microsoft is at Expedia now.
But I’m not just looking for big companies - working at a startup might
be fun, too. I’ve done the Fortune 50 company thing already.
I’m looking for information development (technical writing, knowledge
management, and the like), training program development/management, or IT
management positions primarily.
Something that could be done remotely would be great (though I know
that’s not really an option for IT management roles), as I could start
pretty quickly then.

Little outfit up in Lynnwood called Attachmate, not sure what all they
do.
This is a resource open to all https://fortress.wa.gov/esd/worksource/
I got the most action (and my job) through Dice http://www.dice.com/
Monster was a dud, but LinkedIn was pretty hot.

Lunker,
You realize that he’s going to have quite a bit of duck sauce.

Duck sauce makes an excellent sheep dip. Mutton. Yum.
Now that’s something I hadn’t thought of. Mutton sauce
