Math problems

Over in chit-chat was presented:
Consider the mathematics:

If you use a password comprised of only the 26 letters in the English
alphabet, in lowercase, your pool to choose from is 26.

If you use upper and lower case (and the system can differentiate them),
then it’s 54.

I could have sworn the the total would be 52 but I was educated in a
public school so what do I know?

It would be 52 of course - same (and usefully so) as a pack of cards
