I’ve been looking for a comprehensive guide for Identity Manager.
I found 3 so far…was interested if folks knew of any additional,
similar resources.
This one is quite old - back when it was still called DirXML and was
quite new. Surprisingly, I still find it has relevance. For instance, it
seems to have a great overview of XML and style sheets. http://tinyurl.com/kwbbaoo
What is your goal in purchasing a book? For those who have are starting,
or even more for those who have been doing IDM for a while, Geoffrey
Carman has a book that he wrote on the IDM tokens which is good to have as
a great reference if nothing else. It’s not meant to teach you the theory
behind IDM, though that’s in there scattered about, but it talks
specifically about the various tokens used by the engine, and even gets
into XPath and ECMAscript, and is generally great to move into advanced if
not already there.
Generally, my goal is to learn beyond the netiq system documentation.
i.e. instead of “how” to do things - “why” you should (or should not) do
them - and what is happening behind the scences.
Yes - i recently heard of Geoffrey’s new token book and have a copy on
the way (forgot to list it above!). I’m hoping this is very helpful with
policy creation.
I’ve been on a reading plan to cover all of Geoffrey’s articles, along
with the NetIQ documentation for 4.0.1 and 4.0.2, along with consuming
the manual for sspr 3.0.
Always on the lookout for good resources i may not know about.

I used Geoffrey’s book to help with some force-a-sync-event hacking this
past week. Glad I had it around since nothing else, other than his
articles, gets into that kind of thing in a practical way.
Honestly I think your best bet probably comes from that book as a
reference, the docs for high, high level stuff that you likely already
know and rarely need, and otherwise the Communities/CoolSolutions sites
for everything else, both because of Geoffrey’s articles as well as
several others’. If you miss out on thing from there, I’d post in the
NetIQ IDM engine/drivers forum which is where all of the IDM experts hang
out and discuss specific business/technical cases, complete with code
examples.

Good luck.
Sorry - this wasn’t a real plea for help, etc. It was merely an open
discussion about learning resources for NetIQ products.
The userapp forum isn’t really applicable in this case (IMO).
sorry, it was absolutely my fault - I again fell for the trap that this “back fence forum” is also mirrored over to forums.suse.com, which is where I read your message and just wanted to point you to the NetIQ forums. Quite obviously, you already posted it under forums.netiq.com :[
