I have created a set of rpms and a ‘pattern’ rpm for installing them .This is working on SLES12* and SLES15. “zypper search -t pattern” shows my pattern. However, my rpm is not recognized as a pattern on SLES11SP4. When I looked in the SLES11SP4 ISO image, I found several .pat.gz files which, I think, are the patterns. Does SLES11SP4 not support pattern rpms ? Is there any documentation on pattern support in SLES11SP4 ?

Hi Rahul,
SLES11 definitely supports patterns but creating a pattern RPM is, at
this point, beyond my expertise.
Until someone else comes along with more information, have a look at
this SUSE document.

IIRC SUSE switched from archive files to packages for patterns, I
just can’t remember exactly when but it could well have been from
SLE12.
