is there a way protect the login of rancher against brutal force attacks etc.?

Well, there are many:
- dont expose rancher unnecessarily, run it only on an internal network( remote access from untrusted nets only via VPN)
- use oidc login with mandatory 2-factor authentication
- use a proxy in front and run e.g. fail2ban
