I there a way to get a visual overview of the Rancher server and its resources the way you can for agent hosts or do I need to install Rancher agent on the Rancher server to get this?
If you want it to appear as a host you need to run the agent on it.
Im not planning to use it as a host, I just want to be able to monitor CPU, memory etc. in the GUI.
Create an environment just for the server and install the agent. It will the let you deploy you datadog docker image or whatever you are using to monitor agents. Makes it real easy you monitor.
We use datadog on all our environments and control user access through environments.
We are currently have 2 servers with 10-20 agent servers across 8 AWS accounts.
