SMT connection failure

On a server that’s been running SMT properly for years, SMT has not been able to update since the beginning of the month. The credentials are valid through November 2015, and I verified that the credentials are current. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I should investigate?

The log output is

[INDENT]Downloading Product information

The host is (and has been) behind a firewall, and we run the updates once a week. The logs show it was working up until end of February, and the first failure happened on 3/1/2015. Any ideas as to what I should be investigating?

when I try to ‘wget https://secure-www.novell.com/center/regsvc/?command=bulkop&lang=en-US&version=1.0’, I do see a response, but the output file is 0 bytes.

I think I may have found my issue. I googled the CURL error I received, and someone indicated that the issue may be that openssl is out of date. Openssl on the system was not updated due to the SDK update repo not being configured on the box, so I was running openssl-0.9.8h. I added the repo, updated to openssl-0.9.8j-0.44.1 , and it seems to have completed properly.

Hi jdtrudel,

thank you for sharing the solution right next to the question!

Regards,
Jens

I have the same issue but Updating openssl didn’t fix it !

Which versions of SLES and SMT are you using?

Bearing in mind jdtrudel’s reported solution, what version of openssl do
you have installed? “rpm -q openssl”
