I’ve moved your post to the proper forum. The SUSECON forum is only for discussing the SUSECON conference.

Hi 13seyoum,

“Failed to open the device “/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-3600a0b80-0029479000000707473ac695-part-1” : No such file or Directory” points at a missing or defective disk (it’s complaining about the block device once created for a partition on that disk, so it also may mean that the disk was wiped). The other, ReiserFS-related messages also point at bad disks.

After having logged in to the machine in maintenance mode, check for any evidence of these disks and/or controller failures - maybe the disk controller went bad or alike. Did the server get under any mechanical stress (was it transported to a different location, building works causing excessive mechanical shocks, that sort of things) so that three disks went bad at the same time?

Regards,
J

Dear 13seyoum,

Can you tell me, Is it host machine or virtual machine ?

If it is virtual machine then You could remove "/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-3600a0b80-0029479000000707473ac695-part-1 " disk for temporarily. After that, Try to start it.
If It is host machine then You could check whether respective disk is connected properly or response properly.

Rajesh Kathar
