Testing Backporting drivers in SLES 11 SP1

I have a HP Machine running SLES 11 SP1. I need to check if backporting drivers does work fine or not.
Any idea what does that mean? How shall I test and which drivers can I test?

Hi
Drivers as in kernel modules, or are they third party ones?

Backporting from SLES 11 SP1 to say SLES 10 SP4?

Say from 11 SP2 to SP1.
Can you help me with both - what if in kernel modules or third party ones?

Quite a jump for the newer kernel back to 2.6.32. What are you trying
to get to work on SP1 and the 2.6.32 kernel?

If you can provide an example it will help

That is what my query was. I need help on one of driver backporting(either network or any other component driver etc) for backporting as an instance.
Please suggest.

All I need is to validate backport drivers on HP G7 hardware.
Have you experience backporting drivers anytime before.

Hi
Sure, have built many KMP’s for my home systems

So, can you provide the hardware details (as in pci id’s ) and also the
kernel your wanting to use and what is currently used.

So on the current kernel, can your run;

uname -a
/sbin/lspci -nnk

And post the output between code tags, then can see if the kernel
supports the drier without having to do anything.

For example I have backported my wireless driver for this notebook
from the 3.1.x kernel.
