How close are the Disney parks? What are all the Disney parks? I get
confused by Epcot vs magic kingdom vs Shlitterbahn…

Corondado Springs was the venue last year, and I think a Hyatt is this
year’s hotel. To answer your question, though Coronado Springs is a
Disney property within Disney World as I understand it, and Disney World
includes multiple parks such as Epcot (international stuff, the big dome
which is one ride that talks about the history of the earth, etc), Magic
Kingdom (Disneyland, but bigger I think), Animal Kingdom (a big zoo with
animals), etc.

Yes, Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is this year’s hotel.

… unlike last year, it’s not a Disney hotel so you won’t be able to
get reduced, conference rate Disney passes or early/late admission.
I’m expecting this year to be more like the first SUSECon in 2013 which
was held at the Caribe Royale hotel, another non-Disney hotel. That year
the evening entertainment was dinner and the Blue Man Group at the
Universal Resort.

The SUSEcon website has a way to find the hotel on Google Maps:
From there, put in your desired destination. Alternatively, zoom out a
couple of times and notice the Disney properties all around, within about
ten minutes or so (driving), so just a few miles for everything (closer
for some).

question. If you scroll down. On the left side there is a section
titled “Parks and Tickets”. It lists the major parks that make up
DisneyWorld. Clicking on each one of those gives you information about
that specific park.
Like others have said, this year the Hyatt Hotel is our venue but it’s
not part of Disney. There are other things to do besides visit Mickey
and Minni. There is Universal Orlando:

Based on what I saw the last couple of years, there are quite a few

Lots of great attractions in Orlando! Of course, you’ll be so enthralled by the technical sessions that you’ll only want to stay on site in classes!!
But for the kiddies, there are amusement parks galore. And the SUSECon hotel room block rates are available for three days before the conference through three days after. So you could make it affordable to stay and do the vacation thing…
To make it easy, the Hyatt does provide regular shuttle service to DisneyWorld parks, Universal Studios park and SeaWorld. You just need to check with the front desk.
And if you don’t want to do the parks, the hotel itself is actually a destination resort. I read one review where a parent commented that the kids liked the hotel so much they didn’t want to go to the amusement parks one day! One of the beer companies in Canada, as sponsorship for the Toronto Indy
car race had a 9 person pedal ‘racing car’ that we put a team together
to race around a short track. That was fun.
