Unstable wifi network connection

I noticed that a network connection through a wifi router is unstable. It started after some recent updates had been installed. For some time connection is lost then it appears again. The router itself is reachable and remote DNS server as well. But I can’t load any webpage. Sometimes it’s possible to connect though ftp protocol but not http. If I reconnect network is working for some time again.

Are there many other wireless access points about, maybe on the same
channel and causing interference?

No, there are none. There is no interference. I thought it had been solved by the upgrade to SP-2 but now I see this behaviour remains. If I connect from another computer or boot into another OS - everything is fine.
If it happens System Monitor starts to show it downloads packages on a very high speed, though at the same time nethogs shows 0. This high speed is impossible because it exceeds the limits, set by the provider.
