VMware stopped supporting dual stack in VCenter. You have to pick IPv4 or IPv6. We use IPv6.
While i understand Rancher may not support ipv6 for kubernetes, v6 is working with Active Directory into the platform. It would be great if at least the vSphere provisioning could work with a URL that resolves to an IPv6 address.
