Oh yea, I remember what one of my issues with Vista was…brand new
laptop, it would often just hang.

I bought a new desktop when Windows ME came out… I pressed the On
button… Compaq screen came on…

and then…BSOD.

Reinstalled ME

and then…

Booted

and then…

BSOD…

Went to Staples bought Windows 2000 Pro…

and then…

Machine worked like a Champ…

I still have that box in the attic.

Vista made me had dramatic flashbacks of said event.

Reinstalling Fresh Vista may have done it too :>

Windows 7 loads less services by default, but it’s a matter of
choosing what you want running.

Yes but I’m not even talking about just fresh Win7 vs loaded Vista. I
mean a Win7 install with plenty of apps was still significantly faster
than Vista, even though Win7 was running on older hardware with less
memory.

Vista is just a resource hog. Period.

Y’re forgetting a few:

Windows 98
Windows 98 SE

Well in that case… wasn’t there

Windows 95
Windows 95 OSR B
Windows 95 OSR 2
Windows 95 OSR 2.5

We use Netmotion Mobility (great software BTW), their latest release has
Win7, x86 and x64 and XP clients, but no Vista support.

Not a big surprise, considering that Microsoft itself drops Vista
support before XP.

Also consider:

The various SP’s to products

NT 4.0 needed SP’s to go from junk to good
XP – same thing

Barry Schnur

Well, just to say ‘a’ Windows version is junk is not entirely true save
for Windows ME. All of the releases had it’s charms. Allthough Windows
Vista is a resource hog and some components are a mayor source of
irritation, it did bring a lot of new technology to your desktop. The
problem with Vista is that it was released before it was done. That was
the problem with Windows XP as well imho. SP2 finally made it good.
