Does anyone know of a backup solution for SLES15. I have tried backup exec, which has worked on all the other sles versions, but I get an install error on the SLES15 release relating to ifconfig. Has anyone tried this out or is there another solution as there is little point in using the new release if no backup is available!

Hi
A couple of options, look at the script calling ifconfig and re-associate with the current tools ip a(ddr) from iproute2?
Tried the deprecated rpm and with this working, is allows the backup exec ralus to install with no problems. However, once installed, I am unable at the moment to get it started, so it looks like a new version of the Linux backup exec is required for SLES15. Pity.

Hi
So is this just an agent running on the system, or is this the server for backups?
Maybe Veritas has a update in the works?
Your backup requirements are for data or os or both? If it’s just data then rsync may be an option?
It is an agent running on the system. The main reason for this exercise is to try out the KVM system by moving working vm’s over from SLES11 to SLES15. Due to the size of the vm’s, it is necessary to use a tape solution (for transfer and backup) but Symantec do not appear to have an updated agent available yet. They are very slow in this area especially regarding the micro focus Open Enterprise Server (OES) which they seem to have forgotten for a number of years. It is a pity as Backup Exec works very well in the Linux environment.
