Configuring Suse Manager with external Oracle 11g database

Hello there,

My customer is trying to configure Suse Manager with an external Oracle 11g database. When we reach the screen Database Settings and input the database information, we get an error “Failed to install required packages”. We double check the database parameters SID, IP, port, user rights and password, firewall permissions, etc. Even check database connection logs, and there is no trace of connection attempt from the server or nothing. Is there anything additional to do before configure Suse Manager, Oracle client or something?

Thanks everybody.

Which SUSE Manager appliance are you trying to install ? Where did you get it from ?

Try to look into /var/log/susemanager_setup.err and /var/log/susemanager_setup.log for additional information for this problem.

We got the ISO image from the evaluation link. Is there any other image to download from? The files in /var/log does not exist. I assume because we abort the configuration process before it ends. Thanks for your help.

Hector.

For evaluation purposes, please use the built-in database, not an external one. There are no functional differences between using an internal or external database.

If you need a more detailed evaluation, including an external Oracle database, please contact a sales representative for a full proof of concept setup.
