Confused

Can someone explain what has happened to the Novell forums?
Today, two of the groups I was subscribed to have been closed with a
message that I do not understand, something about they have been moved
to the equivalent SuSE or NetIq groups which I am not able to locate.

Are you using a NewsReader? Have you updated your List of Groups?

For Example - novell.support.edirectory.netware is now
netiq.support.edirectory.netware

However, all the groups should be available from the forums.novell.com
newsgroup server.

Novell does not officially monitor these forums.

Suggestions/Opinions/Statements made by me are solely my own.

No problem. As products are being rebranded it made sense to put them
in the forums sites under their respective new brands. The ISM world
(eDir, IDM, NAM, Sentinel, etc.) is now part of NetIQ, the SUSE stuff is
all still under SUSE (but not on the forums site as well) and the Novell
stuff is still under novell. The message was put there to let you know
that discussions will be continued under the brand of the correct
products. With that said, I think the message was only for NNTP-based
users such as you and me. Just unsubscribe from the current forum and
subscribe to its counterpart under the brand where it will be going
forward. In one case that I know of the equivalent was absorbed in
other things (NMAS… it will not just be handled in the eDir fora) but
in all other cases that I noticed there was an exact equivalent under
the new brand. All of these NNTP fora can be accessed from the same
forums.novell.com server so no need to even change that point of access.

Good luck.

The new forums do not contain all the old messages.

If you want to keep the old messages make sure they aren’t deleted when
you unsubscribe.

For example, when you unsubscribe from XanaNews all the existing
messages -are- deleted.

The old forums will be there until March 1st so if anyone wants to pull
them down, they have a little time to do it.

So where is SLES-configure-administer supposed to be?
I don’t find a comparable group anywhere.

suse.support.server.configure-administer

suse.support.server.configure-administer

The group “suse” does not show up in my newsreader.
Knode 4.8.0r462

I have netiq, novell and opensuse.

No amount of refreshing the lists is adding ‘suse’.

Nevermind, I found the issue.

The news server is still forums.novell.com.

You will have to refresh or once again download the list of newsgroups
to see the new ones.

Knode 4.8 breaks it down into Lists and Groups. You have to refresh both
seperately.

Thanks for the solution. You just know that someone else is going to
encounter the same issue.

This is probably enough support for now or Susan will once again gently
remind everyone that this forum is not for support issues.

Helping people find the right forum isn’t support, it’s good business
sense.
