Every once and a while I still check several of the old Novell
discussion newsgroups. I use Thunderbird as my reader and am getting
the following messages for several newsgroups:
The newsgroup novell.support.netware.6x.administration-tools does not
appear to exist on the host nntp.netiq.com
The newsgroup novell.support.netware.6x.install-upgrade does not appear
to exist on the host nntp.netiq.com
The newsgroup novell.support.netware.6x.abends-hangs does not appear to
exist on the host nntp.netiq.com
Yes, I believe several of these were removed just last week. NetWare 6.x
is pretty ancient, and there are still OES NetWare forums which are for
current stuff.
Kim is pretty targeted when he removes something; generally it is after
having no legitimate posts for a long time (years) because folks are in
the newer-version’s forums. Without doing this the older forums become a
target for spamming scum, so they require constant monitoring like all
others, but with no benefit for people who haven’t sold their souls.
