Decreasing LVM partitions and increasing Swap partition

Hi,

I am trying to decrease my /home partition on SLES 10 SP3 using LVM in YAST. I got the error message " please unmount partition before making changes".
I am able to increase the partitions, however when i tried increasing the SWAP partition i got the same error message as above.
Can somebody please help me with how to unmount partitions so i can decrease their size. Also, would the same work for SWAP partition as well without losing data ?

Thanks a lot.

If you are using LVM for /home then it is a Logical Volume, not a
partition. If it is a partition, LVM won’t help you.

SWAP is usually a primary partition and usually the first or second one
on the drive with / immediately following it. Do you really need to
expand it? Where do you expect to find the space? If / immediately
follows swap, then there is no room to expand it.

See the man pages:

man umount

Swap is only used when needed while the server is running. There is no
need to save any data in the swap partition. Just delete the partition
and create a new one (preferably when the server isn’t running…).

Thanks a lot.[/color]
