Email

Anyone else having issues sending email to Novell?

My gwia shows transfer delayed, but I can send/receive email from
anywhere else I’ve tried.

Sure hope they’re not actively blocking me…

So my response to Joseph’s comment is…

After 5 minutes, still shows pending, so I’m guessing it’s going to go
transfer delayed.

Weird thing is, sent three to Rance Burker earlier, statuses are:

11:52am - transfer delayed
2:04pm - transferred
2:10pm - transfer delayed

Yeah and I can tell you from this end that I did not receive your test
e-mail.

I sent one back in the 14:00 MDT timeframe and it finally went through
three or more hours later. Maybe it’s fixed, or at least catching up…

Good luck.

I sent one back in 1967. It still says pending.

Same here… It’s been going on for a while:
09:17:03 712 MSG 98863 Command: RCPT TO:
09:17:03 712 MSG 98863 Response: 421 Service not available, closing

Production Outage Notification

Impact

Please be advised that we are experiencing intermittent delays in
processing inbound e-mail from external systems today. Some of our
e-mail gateways have been rejecting connection requests from other
systems, preventing messages from being received and delivered to
GroupWise mailboxes.

Current State

The IT Messaging Team is working to resolve the issue and has engaged a
support team from the product vendor. At this time, an estimate for
full resolution has not yet been identified. It is expected that the
intermittent delivery will continue for at least a couple more hours.
External e-mail systems will continue to attempt to deliver messages
for several hours; therefore, we do not expect messages to be lost.

So my response to kgroneman’s comment is…

So apparently they don’t use Groupwise at Novell?

Stevo

My understanding is that it’s a hardware problem. [shrug]

Well it seems to be working better now, whatever they did.

It’s amazing what a sledgehammer and some duct tape can do.

Dang…I guess we’re gonna have to start reading email again.

The advisory was not very descriptive, was it? Don’t worry, Novell
still uses Groupwise

The problem was with a third party product that Novell is using for
spam control. Seems like the old version was working fine, but the
newer version is unable to keep up with the volume of incoming email.
