Just installed Rancher 2.3.6, deploying to vSphere using Node Template, boot2docker ISO (https://github.com/rancher/os/releases/download/v1.5.5/rancheros-vmware.iso)
It creates the vm just fine, but errors trying to validate docker is running.
If it matters, the vm is on a private IP and needs Proxy configured, I set HTTP_PROXY and HTTP
S_PROXY in Engine Options>Engine Environment.
