Grafana in rancher how to set alert notification

I am using rancher 2.5. Have installed monitoring on the cluster managed by rancher.
I would like to set up notification channels using the email, when I test the alert. It says
“SMTP not configured, check your grafana.ini config file’s [smtp] section”

So how does this need to happen – through HELM upgrade?
Can someone describe the exact steps?
