How to add a v-cpu to an existing SLES11 x64 VM-Ware Guest?

Hi all,

as system use increases it gets sometimes nessesary to scale up an add a cpu. How cann this be done in a vm-ware virtual machine with SLES11SP3 x64 ? Is it simply add the the v-cpu to the (offlined) guest, can I see teh new CPU in /proc/cpuinfo ? Is there anything special to know, any scripting to run in advance ???

kind regard,

the VM should pick up the new CPU upon the next reboot - no special steps to take, unless you have somehow drilled down your VM to “single-CPU only, no matter how many (v)CPUs are detected”
