I’m in the process of confirming our standard procedure for the SLES 11 installation in our VMware environment.
We are currently using the “Physical Machine” server base scenario in our vmguest since it mention in the documentation that it can also support Full Virtual Guest.
Having said, would it be best to move forward in our virtual environment to utilize the “Physical Machine” server base or change our standard to “Virtual Guest” server base scenario.
I think the latest install (SP2) clarifies that the virtual option is
for paravirtualized guests, and that is preferred if you can do it for
performance reasons. Now, does VMware do paravirtualization? I do not
think so, but I do not know for sure. Their docs may tell you if they
can do that like Xen virtualization (part of SLES) can.
Good luck.

i haven’t tried creating a new custom ISO using the SLES 11 SP2 version so I’m not aware of it. Thanks for the heads-up!
and yes, VMware support paravirtualization if i remember correctly.
My concern now would be if there would be impact if I used Physical machine server base rather than Virtual Guest server base in the Virtual Environment.
We already deployed one system using this type (Physical Machine server base)of settings in our virtual infrastructure and would like to understand if there would be settings in the
OS that could correct this configuration.
