I am just retiring an HP ML350 G5 server, but would like to use it for
things, which can afford longer downtimes.
I thought of installing SLES11 64-bit on that machine, because most of
the things I want to do are supported on that OS platform. But
SLES11SP2 is quite new compared to the server - at least HP claims,
that it’s Smart Array driver for SLES11SP2 does work for the builtin
array controller. But SC44Ge (=LSI168e) sas controller connected to the
tape drive isn’t really clear.
Should that be working and survive some kernel updates or can that get
problematic?

YMMV, but I’m running OES 11 SP1 / SLES 11 SP2 on an HP DL380 G5
without any problems.
Seems like I need to test that at first and see how well that works -
so will start that only at if I have enough spare time to burn it on
that server.
