Impossibel to install hplip-3.18.10

Hello,
I am trying to run my SUSE Linux server 11 as a print server but I cannot because of a missing library.
[SIZE=2]1.I am using a HP printer Deskjet 2541
2. I have downloaded the compressed source code hplip-3.18.10.tar.gz
3.But when I try to prepare the build process with :./configure. I got this error message a the end “configure: error: cannot find libjpeg support”

  1. When I display my library cache with ldconfig -p, I can see that libjpeg is installed in the system.

When compiling from source you need the relevant devel(opment) files which contain the headers etc, so you would need the libjpeg devel package also installed.

Since it’s unsupported, you could look at asking the openSUSE Build Service (OBS) maintainers to enable a SLE 11 SP3 repository, or just branch and build for SP3?

I don’t know if I have given the good version of my Suse Linux system but see what I got.

Ahhh real old… you might be lucky to get it to build.

Any reason you can’t upgrade to SLE 11 SP4? Does your system CPU
support 64bit and get to an even newer release?
