and if so how can it be accessed during installation from dvd ?

I had been through that document already, however this time i noticed:
To use a boot loader other than the ones listed, select Do Not Install Any Boot Loader. Read the documentation of your boot loader carefully before choosing this option.
Other than what this statement implies seeing how ELILO isn’t listed (only GRUB is listed so it should be “one” singular not “ones” plural)
I have not found anything stating specifically ELILO was dropped and no longer supported in SLES 12.x,
so I guess I would have to do the legwork and install it manually if I really want it.

I’m not aware that it has.
I don’t have access to a SLES 12.x system but on my SLES11 SP4 system I
found more information here:

Checking the contents of the SLES12 SP2 x86_64 media (specifically DVD1)
I don’t see any files or packages with names including ‘lilo’.
I have found TID 7003226[1] which relates to the support status of LILO
on SUSE Linux Enterprise (Server and Desktop) 11 x86 and x86-64.
