iSCSI not mounting on boot

Hello all: I have a backup server running SLES 11 SP4 (technically OES 2015 SP1). This server uses a NAS as one of its storage devices. I use iSCSI to attach to the NAS. This works very well. In the past the iSCSI initiator would auto-mount the NAS on boot, but for the last couple of months this has stopped. I have gone through all the settings several times and even removed and recreated the connection. The service is set to start automatically and is set to connect to the target “on boot”. Yet no joy.

does anyone know what may be the problem? Why was this working before and now not? Thanks, Chris.

The only thing that comes to mind is perhaps slow networking; e.g. if the
networking is DHCP, or if the NIC is just slow to initialize before iSCSI
wants to use it, then perhaps the initiator will be unable to reach the
target and stop.

Any logs of interest? ‘dmesg’ output of the bootup may be interesting,
along with networking configuration information (one NIC, multiple NICs,
using bonding or not, using DHCP or not, etc.).

Good luck.
