"Nothing to do" when trying to update SLES 11 SP1 to SPx

Hello,

Im trying to update the patch level of my SLES 11 (x86_64) and Patchlevel 1.

I get this message:

TDExpress15.00.02_Sles11:/ # zypper update -t patch
Loading repository data…
Reading installed packages…
Resolving package dependencies…
Nothing to do.

Can you help to solve this issue? This command should update my patch level and it is doing nothing!
Im following this steps, but it is not working:
www.suse.com/documentation/sled11/book_sle_deployment/data/sec_update_sle11sp1.html

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

TDExpress15.00.02_Sles11:/ # zypper update -t patch

are you still at the “Run an Online Update” step in that document? Then don’t let it confuse you: You’re fine. Those steps are about getting the current system to the latest patch level.

You can now continue either with Wagon or with steps from “Online Migration with zypper”.

Regards,
J

Note the above link is for updating _SLED_11 SP1 to SP2 - for
updating SLES11 SP1 to SP2 you should be following
http://bit.ly/29Uq7BM instead.

Whilst theoretically the steps for SLED11 and SLES11 should be the
same it’s possible there might be some slight differences.
