ntp.conf Question

Yesterday I changed the time server in /etc/ntp.conf - server xxx.xx.x.x

This is a local server.

I restarted - rcntp restart.

Today I did a - ntpq -p and it is still showing the old time server:

 remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset jitter

==============================================================================
xxx.xx.xx xxx.xx.x.x 6 u 4 64 1 1.771 1839121 0.001
LOCAL(0) .LOCL. 10 l 3 64 1 0.000 0.000 0.001

Any idea what I may have missed.
