Is it possible to apply patches that are tagged as “Unlocked accessible file” in the patch finder?
If so, how are these patches applied? In order to access the online_upate in YaST2 the system has to be registered which, as I understand it, can only be done if I have paid support for that particular system.
Can anyone help ou on how to handle this best?

You can get a trial license which allows you to get patches for up to 60 days or if you plan to run this server for longer than that then I would recommend you buy a license: https://www.suse.com/products/server/download/
