re-create packages repo to do PXE network Install of SLES 11

Hi

I want to install SLES11 from network(dhcp+tftp+http).

Currently I put the whole DVD on the http website. This do works. But I’d like the folder under the http server can be much simple and clean.

You know now the DVD have folders have several folders: [boot][suse][media.1][docu], and the DVD have some other .asc and .gz files.

What I want is to only have two directory: [suse] and [repo] (one store packages and another store repo informations)

Does anyone knows how to make it? Thank you very much.

Have you read the SLES Deployment Guide?

14.2 Setting Up the Server Holding the Installation Sources
http://www.suse.com/documentation/sles11/book_sle_deployment/?page=/documentation/sles11/book_sle_deployment/data/sec_deployment_remoteinst_instserver.html

You have several options that will let you install SLES from a network
source.

Thanks Kevin.

Actually I can do network install. My question is how can I re-make the install source? I would like to make the install source much clean. It’s better to have only 2 folders, 1 for packages 1 for configuration files.

If you create an installation source from the CD/DVD media, I suppose
you could delete some of the directories from the installation source
but I don’t know if it would still be usable.

SUSE allows you to create installation sources to do network installs.
They can reside anywhere on your network. You don’t have to use
expensive high-performance storage. I don’t understand why you feel it
is necessary to delete certain directories…
