Hi,

without looking into the details you provided, have you looked into the logs of the hypervisor? If the hypervisor runs out of memory he could shutdown instances (OOM-Killer).

Regards

Hi,

the machine hung on a blocked process (“CPU#11 stuck for 45 seconds”), which may have triggered the reboot of the VM. Is this SLES4SAP (in a clustered version)?

Such a hang, as Eugen already suggested, is often related to issues on the KVM host. This could i. e. be access to (too slow) shared disks or contention for other resources. (If I read the back trace correctly, a page fault initiated this - does your VM or KVM host do swapping? I guess the system is trying to find some free memory, but that takes too long.)

What’s your KVM host running, is that a SLES, too?

Do you have monitoring for your KVM host’s resources in place, with historic values? Those might help isolate the problem, if the logs (OS and virtualization tools) don’t offer enough details already.

Have you had a look at the SUSE best practices, just for good measure? https://www.suse.com/documentation/suse-best-practices/pdfdoc/suse-best-practices-sap-hana-on-kvm-sles-for-sap-12-sp2/suse-best-practices-sap-hana-on-kvm-sles-for-sap-12-sp2.pdf

J

Hi shailupoojary,
Hello Team,
Of course I’ll try to help anyhow.

Regards,
J
