SLES-11-SP3 installation not seeing my SATA hard drive

I erased the SATA hard disk using SeaTool utility for DOS and have started the SLES installation. But at 60% of the installation its complaint the “No hard disk were found for the installation. Please check your hardware. Check 'driver.suse, com if you need specific hardware driver for installation.”

Then in the installation settings Partitioning got this "No automatic proposal possible.Specify mount points manually in the ‘Partitioner’ dialog.

How do I get the SATA disk recognized by the installation program? This is not solid state drive, its regular disk with 7200 rpm. Appreciate any help.

Tks

Hi
What is your system (manufacturer/model) the SATA drive is attached to?

How are you installing, via a DVD, USB?

It is a home made system with ASUS M2N MS SE V2 mobo with 8GB RAM and AMD Phenom II X4 CPU.
It has a SATA DVD drive and a Segate 250GB SATA HDD. The HDD had two partitions WindowsXP SP1 and Windows Server 2003 SP1 and both are now
erased using Segate’s Disk Utility. It has 2 Gigabyte network cards in addition to the one on the mobo. Had Fedora Live run on it for couple of times but never installed.

I am booting with the SLES-11-SP3-DVD-x86_64-GM-DVD1.iso to install it.

Hi
Hmm, well it could be sata cable issues, can you unplug and re-plug
them, or replace if you can.

Boot the DVD and rather than install, run ‘rescue’ and post the output
from;

fdisk -l /dev/sda
smartctl -a /dev/sda

Thanks for the help. I still have the problem so I replaced the SATA hard disk /cable and connected a ATA hard disk on the ISA bus
and it all working well. My intention is to install some DB2 and STERLING OMS 9.3 on this machine to do some JMS/MQueue/WebService testing, its a long way to go yet.
