SLES 12 Usage Question

We are evaling SLES 12 and I have noticed some packages don’t exist on the DVD(s). Like PHP. It appears that you have to subscribe to the extensions on the registration server (addon packages) and in order to subscribe you have to have a registered SLES 12. So my question is, if we do not purchase SLES12 after the eval, will there be certain packages that we can not get because they are on the registration server?

Hi
You can download the SLE 12 SDK (you only need DVD1, DVD2 is the src
rpms)
https://download.suse.com/Download?buildid=eHNDsyWlokA~

But, yes after you evaluation is up, then all you will have access to
is the install and sdk dvd’s no updates etc.

Yea, i know about the security updates etc but i wanted to make sure we could still get packages. I didnt think about the SDK. So, i downloaded SDK x86_64 Disc 1 and the only php that has is php-devel. Where to find php5 suse package?

Hi
Ahh, it’s in the add on extension “SLE-Module-Web-Scripting”, so not
available on the install media.

So that goes back to my original question: if we do not purchase SLES12 after the eval period, will we have access to those packages found only in “SLE-Moudule-Web-Scripting”?

Hi
Nope, since you need an active subscription code for the repositories.

Now, you could check out the install and SDK DVD’s as these have the
src rpms, I haven’t looked at the SLE 12 SDK DVD2, but you could find
the original php5 rpm to build the php5-devel package…
