sles11sp3 and apache

Trying to update my web server (running GW webaccess also) to sles11sp3
/ oes11sp2.

Get an error in the packages:

novell-nrm-2.0.3-0.109.5 requires apache2-mod_php53, but the
requirement cannot be provided.

apache2-mod_php53-5.3.x are uninstallable

Resolution options are:

  1. Uninstall apache2-mod_php5-5.2.14-0.7.30.50.1 and uninstall a bunch
    of php5 modules

  2. Uninstall novell-ncpserv-nrm-2.0.5-12.42.45.2

  3. Keep obsolete novell-nrm-2.0.2-297.305.304.1

  4. Break novell-nrm-2.0.3-0.109.5

Whatever resolution option I look to try, it causes other errors that
require a whole nother set of resolutions.

Server is sles11sp2 / oes11sp1 that I have kept up to date via SMT.
Only running apache / tomcat, and Groupwise webaccess and web calendar
publishing.

Suggestions?

Hi Stevo,

do I see it right that the thread title is misleading and you’re actually running sles11sp2?

From your description it to me sounds like you’re running PHP 5.2 on your box and are trying to install the PHP 5.3 Apache2 module… I’d expect tons of packages that need replacing (as you’ll have to switch your PHP 5.2 installation over to 5.3), so what you see does not look suspicious to me. When selection resolution options, just keep in mind that anything PHP-related needs to go from 5.2 to 5.3, so in that options list you quoted, I’d clearly select “1” and quite a few other questions will follow…

So my response to jmozdzen’s comment is…

Correct, I’m currently sles11sp2 / oes11sp1 on this box, wanting to go
to sles11sp3 / oes11sp2.

Weird thing is, I have an identically set up box in my test envir that
went through the update with no resolution options needed, the update
happened without a hitch.

Just wondering why this live server would not do the same.

Hi Stevo,

I’m sorry - immediately trying to find out the root cause, the first sentence about the update slipped by :[ I misinterpreted the remainder as trying to update from PHP5.2 to 5.3…

I don’t know why the test server worked right out of the box, while the prod server doesn’t - maybe it has to do with locating OES (update) packages, impacting the resolver? I recommend to take this question over to the OES forums, perhaps you’ll receive more feedback there.

Which OES forum would you recommend?

Stevo

Hi Stevo,

Which OES forum would you recommend?

I’d opt for https://forums.novell.com/forumdisplay.php/431-OES-L-Install (OES Linux Installation). You can use the same credentials for logging in as you’re using here.

But I’m no OES guy, so that “recommendation” came from looking at the forum titles
