while upgrading from SLES SP2 to SP3 i can see, along with the common:
“sles11-sp3-pool-x86_64-sap-sp3”
“sles11-sp3-updates-x86_64-sap-sp3”
So you also have SLES for SAP Applications installed?
indeed, but the only one SAP related channel is called "SLE11-SP3-SAP-Updates for x86_64 " - theres only some HANA DB updates

channels also this ones:
sles11-sp1-pool-x86_64-sap-sp3
sles11-sp1-updates-x86_64-sap-sp3
sles11-sp2-core-x86_64-sap-sp3
sles11-sp2-updates-x86_64-sap-sp3
Im a bit confused, thus the question here is what is the purpose of this
channels?
Are they also mendatory for distribution upgrade process? As just
mentioned, usualy i would only those:
sles11-sp2-updates-x86_64-sap-sp3
sles11-sp2-updates-x86_64-sap-sp3
With “regular” SLES11 you would normally have the -Pool and -Updates
A channels but with SLES11 SP2 SUSE changed things such that you needed
A both SP1 and SP2 channels. They then reverted that change with SP3.
ah i see
Please see TID 7010225[1] which lists the software repos used by SLES11
SP2. You may also find TID 7001199[2] useful which, whilst lists which
repos you’d need to mirror with SMT, has an explanation of the various
repos.
The important thing when upgrading is that if you have any packages
installed via any of the channels then you need to make sure you add the
same channel for the next version you’re upgrading to.
oki, after your recomendation i also subscribed for the
“sles11-sp1-pool-x86_64-sap-sp3”
“sles11-sp2-core-x86_64-sap-sp3”
“sles11-sp2-suse-manager-tools-x86_64-sap-sp”
“sles11-sp2-updates-x86_64-sap-sp3”
“sles11-sp3-pool-x86_64-sap-sp3”
channles, ran “zypper update -t patch” several times …and after one reboot, it seems to be done.
Thanks Simon for the clarification!!
