Cool, thanks. So all that’s needed is the .exe? What’s the easiest
way to move my settings, etc from one machine to the other? I really
don’t want to have to go through the settings changes.
Swapping to a new laptop at work. For any of you that still use nntp
to access the forums, what reader do you use?
I’ve been using Xana, but have been on v1.18.1.6 and not sure if
there’s a newer version anywhere. More than likely I’ll just use Xana
on this one, just wanted some more input.

I’ve been using Thunderbird. But, I have little demands. Consequently,
I have never needed to dive deep to see if it does or does not have
features I “need”. Also, I use MozBackup regularly. I’ve needed to
restore everything after a hard drive crash. Worked reliably even for
all the news feeds.

I have the following batch file on my flash drive:
start newsreader3.exe -ns -XMLSettings:.\xana.xml
From the XanaNews readme:
That allows me to put it on my flash drive and just plug that flash
drive into any windows machine, run the batch file, and it’s up and
running. No muss, no fuss.

So my response to kgroneman’s comment is…
Is the xananews.xml file only for the newest version? I don’t see that
file on this machine.

Mine is 1.19.1.320, and I’ve named mine xana.xml. Just create a blank
file with whatever name you specify in your batch file and XN should
populate it when it starts the first time and you start to configure
it. It’s been a long time since mine was done, but I’m pretty sure
that’s the way. The file doesn’t have to be “xananews.xml”
