Hi,
We are a SAP B1 partner and one of our client has purchased a Dell server with SUSE Linux enterprise factory installed.
605-BBHZ
SLES, 1-2 Socket, 3yr Subscription Licensing, Physical 1
634-BDLW
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11.4,Factory Install, Requires License & Subscription Selection 1
Can we upgrade or migrate this product to SUSE Linux Enterprise for SAP B1 HANA. Please advise us. If yes how we can do it?
Aruna.

Yes it’s possible to convert* a server running SLES11 SP4 to SLES for
SAP Applications 11 SP4 without reinstalling it - please see TID 7016707[1].
*I prefer to use the term “convert” since migration sounds like you’re
moving from one piece of hardware (physical or virtual) to another.

Hi Simon,
Thanks for the reply and I tried the solutions as well. Once I ran following,
Migrate_SLES11-SP4_to_SLES11-for-SAP-SP4.sh
it carries me through a wizard and asking for a activation code. Once I supplied the original activation code ( i.e Factory installed SLES Enterprise activation code) It says “An improper code is supplied”
Please advise us on this whether client has to obtain a new activation code for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 11 Service Pack 4.
Thanks in advance

Since SLES for SAP Applications is a bit more than just SLES it has it’s
own set of registration codes so yes you will need a SLES for SAP
Applications registration code.

Hi Simon,
Thanks for the reply.
Just a clarification.
Does my client has to buy that license separately. Since they have bought the original license for SUSE Linux Enterprise, do they have to pay again for SUSE Linux for SAP B1.
Thanks in advance.

The SLES for SAP Applications license is definitely different from a
“regular” SLES license. I suggest they/you contact their/your local SUSE
office - details are available at https://www.suse.com/contact/ .
