Tools for configuring and maintaining a cluster

Hello,
I am planning to build a linux cluster of about 30 PC’s in size. Since I have been a suse user for a long time now, I intend to install Suse Linux Enterprise Server as OS.
I was wondering whether there are any specific tools developed by suse to ease the configuration (network, compilers, MPI, etc.) and maintenance/administration of the cluster.
I will appreciate any help here cos I´m kind of new to the whole cluster thing.

Have you gone through the documentation and media for the High
Availability Extension (HAE) for SLES? If so are there tools/steps
beyond this that you’d like? The purpose of the HAE stuff is to make
clustering as robust and straight-forward as possible, and since it’s
specific to SLES it’s probably right up your alley.

Good luck.

Yes HAE, I agree. However, clustering is complicated and diverse. And this is
my own personal experience… that is, that you have to look at how HAE works
and whether or not it fits your clustering needs. In my case, a generic
clustering solution didn’t work for me. For me, I was looking at a very
reliable failover NAS scenario, but the roadblocks for implementation of that
were many and ultimately, I removed HAE from the equation.

Hi there,
Thanks a lot for your post. I will take a look at the HAE documentation as you suggest.
Regards.
