Wow, it is so fast compared to a P4 2.8 Ghz with 3 Gigs of ram and
Sata2.
No, I didn’t get an SSD. Might get a hybrid drive when they get cheaper at
the local supplier.
I was happy with my old one, but it just blew more caps on the 3rd
motherboard it has been jury rigged with, so time to treat myself an i5 and
8 Gigs of ram with Windows 7 64bit. I found it interesting how the
motherboard has the cpu pins sticking up now, and my motherboard was
defective out of the box. Some pins were higher than others and 2 looked
bent. My supplier RMA’d it no questions asked and also mentioned he had
seen all kinds of crazy thinks there, like wire loops instead of pins.
Anyways, here’s hoping I don’t see brown capacitor juice for a very long
time
Congratulations! You certainly deserved it, after those many years!
Your i5 with 8G and 7-64 should do you well for many years to come.
There’s not much that can slow them down! : )

I just got Nancy a Kindle Fire HD with 64 GB of ram for Mothers day and
her birthday. I overheard her talking about wanting one to a friend of
hers. It’s a black case, but I also got her the closest to a red holding
case and some black dots to apply to the case so she continue her
Ladybug collection. Quick charger, cable, stylus, LONG USB cable,
external DVD drive, screen protector film because our cats will walk
over it and a red and black backpack from LL Bean to hold it all.
She told me (in a very small little girl voice) I didn’t need to get
her all the stuff since she had bought a lap loom as a present to
herself. I told her she was going to have to suffer with it. I sang
Happy Birthday and Happy Mothers Day to her when I took her to the yarn
and wool shop to let everyone know that she had gotten something from
me. She told me I was going to get it.
Hmmm wonder what she’s going to do?

Well, I haven’t tried any games yet, and the PCI -E 16X slot is empty
I put the motherboard into silent mode in the BIOS and it almost is;
certainly much quieter than the old P4 ( both using stock cooling).
Dave:
Besides the speed and stability of more recent equipment, I like the
quiet, too. What do you have planned for that PCI-E slot. hmmmm? : )
