Unable to login as domain user using Putty

Hi,

Background:
I installed Suse Linux Enterprise server 12 on my VM box.
I joined the Suse to my local domain.

I am able to login to Suse using my domain login if I do it on the VMware vsphere-client console.

Problem:
Using the same domain login, the machine keep on denying me from logging in if I use Putty.
Error message: Access denied.

I tries these solutions but non of them help.
1- Leave and rejoin the domain
2- Use WinSCP

Can anyone help please?
Thanks.

Hi hoangng,

Using the same domain login, the machine keep on denying me from logging in if I use Putty.

I see a number of potential problems that could lead to this symptoms. A good starting point is looking at the system logs of the server, checking what sshd and PAM have to say concerning your login attempt.

Regards,
Jens

Are you saying above that using WinSCP worked but didn’t help with what
you’re trying to achieve?

I ask because unless you used WinSCP to connect via FTP it suggests that
SSH is working because both SFTP and SCP connect via SSH. It may useful
to know which file protocol you picked when using WinSCP as that might
indicate a problem with either SSH version 1.0 or 2.0.
