Is there a way to get zypper to do the equivalent of --ignoreos in rpm. All I can see -f which also ignores the version checks which I don’t want

Not that I’m aware of, that’s not even a recommended rpm command… you can still use rpm to install? What is the end game, if you want to inspect the rpm, archive manager or cpio will extract it?
