Wicked-Nanny HA function support of OSA Layer3 in IBM z

Hello, all:
IBM zServer OSA support both layer-2 mode and layer-3 mode. The performance when running in layer-3 mode is much higher than layer-2 when offloading feature (segmentation, checksum) is enabled. But from the HA point of view, traditionally the layer-2 is preferred as managing the MAC is more straightforward.
I’m not very sure that the wicked-nanny NIC HA functions(including teaming or bonding) supports OSA layer-3 mode or not. If so, which release? Thanks a lot.

Victor Hsiao.

Hi Victor,

Welcome to the SUSE forums.

As you may have noticed there are quite a few forums and deciding where to ask your question may not always be obvious. While your question is network related it also seems to be IBM zServer specific.

If your question isn’t answered in this forum, you may want to ask in the SLES for System Z forum where volunteers having experience with IBM zServer may be in a better position to help you.

Hello, KBOYLE:
Thanks for your advise. I’ll cross-post to SLES for System Z forum per your recommendation.:o

I am closing this thread.

Victor (cthsiao) has posted his question in the SLES for System Z forum.
