Wireless issue

Anyone here using Ubiquiti NanoStation pt to pt wireless access points?

We have a couple here at a couple sites that are 0.4 miles away (per
the access points).

Got a connection set up, works great (replaced a T-1 here). Have an
issue where the wireless acts like it drops twice a day. It’s only
down for a minute or two and comes right back up, but devices there get
dropped. It’s on about a 12 hour rotation, but it’s quite regular.
Devices don’t lose uptime, just the wlan seems to drop.

The logs on them don’t show anything specific.

Any suggestions?

We use their NanoBridges for backhaul to most of our sites. First
thing that comes to mind is something that blocks the fresnel zone -
maybe a truck?

One of our redundant links is a little too low - occassionally it gets
blocked when 20’/40’ containers get stacked up high in the way of its
path.

Scott Campbell sounds like they ‘said’:

So my response to Scott’s comment is…

Nope, clear line of sight between these two. One of the times the
wireless goes haywire is around 3:45am when this place is locked down
to even vehicle traffic.

JFYI: Fresnel zone != LoS
So you can have a clear line of sight but still encroach on the fresnel
zone.

When the links drop take a look at airview(?) IIRC that is the tool
built in to airOS which will show noise across the frequency. You’ll
need to do so before hand (it will cause a drop in the bridge) and
monitor during the event but if you suddenly see a burst of noise
you’ll have an answer.

You may need to do it from one end for one event and then the other end
to get a picture as to what is happening.

Or, for the sake of a hundred bucks you could replace the kit at both
ends and see if that solves the problem. If it doesn’t then you know
you probably have something at one of the sites generating noise…

Thinking it was STP enabled on the APs…

Will know for sure Monday morning.
